Japan supports Jaipur limb workshop improvement
The Japanese government has extended US$ 28,501 (approximately Rs 3.7
million) grant aid for a social welfare project to expand the supply
capacity of artificial limbs by providing equipment to the workshops
under its Grant Assistance for Grass roots Human Security Project (GGP).
"The Project for Developing the Setting Workshops to Manufacture
Artificial Limbs and Appliances in Colombo" implemented by the Colombo
Friend-in-Need Society which has provided artificial limbs with
rehabilitation at no cost to people in need would directly help 1,000
people annually to reintegrate into society and improve their social
environment.
The project supported for procuring the essential equipment and tools
such as ovens etc. to be replaced with older items.
Japan and Sri Lanka celebrate the 60th anniversary of its diplomatic
relations this year. During the last 6 decades, Japan and Sri Lanka have
maintained strong mutual partnership.
Equipment and tools were handed over by Japanese Ambassador Nobuhito
Hobo yesterday at the Colombo Friend-in-Need Society's office in
Colombo. President of Colombo Friend-in-Need Society Kalayani Ranasinghe
and other representatives were present.
