Nine petitions challenging PSC process

Nine petitions had been filed against the on going Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) hearings of the impeachment charges against the Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake.

The petitioners are requesting an interpretation of the constitutional process. The petitions are to be mentioned in the Supreme Court on November 30 by a three Judge Bench.

The petitioners contend that the PSC appointed by way of a Parliamentary Standing Order had no force in law.
