The first Christmas Shopping Festival was held in 2010 and since then, the Christmas Festival had become an annual event on a grand scale.

"Every year we have grown and embarked on organizing this event on a broader scale where our target market are passengers and tourists who shop at our Duty Free Complex.

We not only promote our shopping to travellers, but we are also able to win their confidence by holding this event annually," acting Head of Marketing, Kaushali Munasinghe said.

initiative to make Sri Lanka a shopping destination and our aim is to popularize Sri Lanka among transit passengers and tourists and in turn, support passengers who use the airport by rewarding them handsomely," Chairman, AASL Prasanna Wickramasuriya, said. The total value of prizes on offer was Rs. 3 million.
