Hambantota Blues confront Colombo

A keen tussle could be witnessed in the grand final of the fourth edition of the Carlton Cup Basketball Tournament when Hambantota Sports Club Blues confront Colombo Basketball Club this evening at the Henry Pedris Courts, Colombo at 7.00 pm .

Both teams gave a superb display in their respective groups and are sure to give of their best in the final.

Hambantota Sports Club Blues moved to the top of the “A” division clubs by beating Wattala BC 67 - 42, Avant Garde 79 - 37, Red Line Club Maldives 59 - 52, HSC Blacks 55 - 43 and Sri Lanka Air Force 56 - 44.

The Colombo Basketball Club qualified for the final by beating Old Peterites BC 57 - 45, Hambantota Sports Club Blues 49 - 44, Sri Lanka Air Force 65 - 34, Army 83 - 69.

The defending champion Colombo BC will have to face a fierce challenge from the rival as the Blues possess a balanced side. Both teams will aim to clinch the prestigious Carlton Cup trophy.

The “B” division final will take place between Moratuwa Basketball Club and Colombo International School Basketball Club at 3.30 pm at the same venue.

Meanwhile, in the schools matches, Royal College Colombo 7 will meet St.Joseph’s Colombo in the boys final while St.Lawrence College Colombo will take on Lyceum International School Wattala at 5.30 pm in the girls final.
