The doctors of the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital staged a token strike
of four hours commencing at 8.00 am yesterday in protest over alleged
death threats to hospital director Dr. Shelton Perera by an unknown
person over the phone during the past few days.
The hospital director had submitted written complaints to both the
Galle A.S.P. and I.G.P. on Tuesday with regard to the death threats.
The unknown caller had forced the doctor to immediately resign from
the post and unless he did so, he would be killed together with his
daughter. |
