PSC, only forum to hear complaints against members
Jayantha de Silva
The Court of Appeal yesterday directed that any complaint by a
litigant against members of the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) has
to be lodged with the quorum (PSC) itself.
This is sequel to two petitions filed against the inclusion of
Parliamentarians Wimal Weerawansa and Rajitha Senaratne, both members of
the quorum appointed to investigate alleged misbehaviour and
incapability of Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake who is facing
impeachment charges.
Attorney - at - Law Sanjeewa Jayawardana appearing for petitioner
Mathugala Kumarage filed an application to reserve the right to call the
next sittings if necessary, prior to the next date fixed for mention on
December 11 and support the petition. The application was allowed.
