Moratuwa enter semis by beating Wennappuwa

Moratuwa Basketball Club booked a berth in the semi finals when they
beat Wennappuwa Knights Basketball Club by 75 points to 57 in their
Carlton Cup Basketball Tournament's "B" division match played at Henry
Pedris Courts yesterday.
It was Wennappuwa Knights BC who led at the beginning.

The lads from Moratuwa came out with a lion hearted display and
snatched the lead from their opponents.Moratuwa BC, with their
aggressive play scored 16 points and restricted the opponents to 10
points in the first quarter.
Moratuwa BC came up in a much organized manner and showcased a
quality display of Basketball while extending their gap with the
opponents score. The lads from Moratuwa seemed to be very energetic and
they become more stronger as they exploited the opponents weak points.
Moratuwa BC led 35 - 19 at halftime.
The lads from Wennappuwa continued their same playing style which was
not powerful enough to pose a threat to their rivals. Wennappuwa Knights
failed to penetrate their man to man defence and lost the third quarter
( 18 - 13 ).
In the final quarter, Wennappuwa fought back gallantly to pile up 26
points against Moratuwa's 22 points.
But it was not sufficient for them to emerge victorious as the lads
from Moratuwa ran out winners by 75 points to 57 .
Sanitha and Sanjaya scored 19 points each for Moratuwa Basketball
Club ably supported by Charitha (13 points) while for the losers,
Chathun (15 points) and Anuk (13 points) gave a lion hearted display.
