Leadership training programme for new batch begins on Dec 27

The leadership training programme for the next batch of university
entrants will commence on December 27, Higher Education Ministry
Secretary Dr Sunil Jayantha Navaratne said.

Arrangements are in place to hold these training sessions in 25
centres throughout the country with the participation of 26,721 students
who qualified to enter university, he said. This year's leadership
training programme will be held in three batches with each group
comprising 9,000 students, Dr Navaratne said. Training sessions for the
first batch will commence on December 27. The duration of the training
programme has been reduced from three weeks to two due to an additional
5,609 students being added to the next intake according to a Court
order.
Dr Navaratne said 26,721 students will undergo the leadership
training programme this time. The training will be held in military and
police establishments countrywide from December 27 to January 13.
The leadership training programme has been organised by a special
committee comprising university lecturers.
The future vision of Sri Lanka, global changes, achieving long term
developments, physical exercises, first aid, leadership qualities and
leadership, laws and rituals of the society will be included in the
programme.
Lecturers will conduct these sessions with the support of the Defence
Ministry, Tri Forces, Police ,Vice Chancellors of all
universities,University Grant Commission and its affiliated
institutions, Dr Navaratne said.
