Lankan Tamil film included in European Film Festival

The Tamil film Ini Avan will be screened at the European Film
Festival to be held in Sri Lanka. The film will be screened to mark the
50th anniversary of Tamil language cinema in Sri Lanka.
The film festival will be held in Colombo, Jaffna and Kegalle.
European Film Festival curator Anomaa Rajakaruna said the Film
Festival will be held from November 30 to December 7 at 3.30pm and
6.30pm at the National Film Corporation, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7.
"This will be a good opportunity to share international cultural
experiences between Sri Lankans," Rajakaruna said.
Ini Avan (Him, Here, After) was directed by Ashoka Handagama.
This film festival is a collaborative programme of the European Union
delegation countries - British Council, French Embassy, Goethe
Institute, Italian Embassy, Netherlands Embassy, Norwegian Embassy,
Consulate of Poland and Embassy of Switzerland.
The Sri Lanka Film Corporation joined hands with these institutions
to launch this programme, she said. Selected films for the European film
festival are Black Venus and Two days in Paris - France, Schlafkankheit
and four days in May - Germany, 80 Millions - Poland, The deep blue sea,
Salmon Fishing in the Yemen - UK, Bon Voyage and Sonny Boy- The
Netherlands, Marry and Johnny, My words - My life - My loves
-Switzerland, The Khutokeino Rebellion, Limbo - Norway and Into Paradiso
- Italy. Films will also be screened at St Joseph's Balika Maha
Vidyalaya (Primary) Auditorium, Kegalle on December 8 and Centre for
Performing Arts, Jaffna on December 15. Ini Avan and three other films
will be screened in Kegalle and Jaffna. Entrance is free of charge.
