Boxer Anusha does Sri Lanka proud

Sri Lankan women pugilist Anusha Kodituwakku made her motherland
proud by winning a gold medal at the Eight Nation Women’s International
Boxing Championship concluded at Tunis City in Tunisia on Friday.

The women’s team had a successful tour when Sithari Sandareka and
Shiromali Weerakoon bagged bronze medals. Sithari, who contested under
54kgs weight category beaten by Norway’s Mariel Hanson while Shiromali
also faced the same situation in the middle weight under 75kg semi final
bout where she was defeated by an Egyptian boxer.
The three champion boxers were coached by former Sri Lanka fly weight
national champion Harsha Kumara. Dian Gomes who has done a lot to
promote boxing accompanied the team as the manager and boosted their
morale to achieve this significant victory.
