NFF condemns violence against Palestinians

The National Freedom Front (NFF) in a press release issued yesterday condemned the manslaughter committed by Israel through its air attacks on the Gaza Strip and called upon the international community including the UNO to intervene and bring the situation under control. The release said nearly 50 Palestinians including children had been killed in the attacks and Israel had identified several more targets for such attacks which meant that it planned to continue this killing spree.

The UNO and the international community at large had kept silent about this catastrophe and this silence could lead to a threat to world peace.

While calling upon the international community and the UNO to bring this situation under control, the NFF wishes to offer its condolences to the families of the Palestinian people who have fallen victims to these attacks.

TRI workshop

The Tea Research Institution (TRI) will conduct an awareness programme, workshop for Chief Executive Officers of tea plantation companies on "Preventing Tea harvest from post harvest damage" at the Hector Kobbekaduwa Research and Training Institution (HARTI) auditorium on November 23 .

TRI sources said a lack of knowledge in post harvest technology results in massive stocks of tea leaves going to waste. The awareness programme will make officials aware about proper storing methods of tea leaves after picking, transportation to factories, improving quality, preserving freshness and getting a good price for their harvests.

"This awareness programme and workshop will be of great use to tea industrialists, helping them compete in the local and international market while providing quality products. This will also make a major contribution to the national economy as well,"the TRI sources added.
