Seychelles requests help to develop fisheries industries
Over 3,000 Sri Lankan workers work in Seychelles helping to uplift
the country's economy. They are a great resource to Seychelles.
Sri Lankan teachers working in Seychelles render a dedicated service
to make the future of Seychelles bright, Seychelles Deputy President
Danny Faure said.
The Deputy President who met Fisheries and Aquatic Resources
Development Minister Dr Rajitha Senaratne during an official visit to
Seychelles recently, invited the Sri Lankan government to build a close
ties with Seychelles.
“I believe that it will be a great support for the development of
both countries. I have been informed about the development of the
fisheries sector in Sri Lanka and request help from Sri Lanka to develop
our fisheries industry, ” Faure said.
He said Sri Lanka has a good knowledge on maritime and marine
affairs.
“Sri Lanka has the ability to train our fishermen while providing
knowledge,” Faure said.
“The Sri Lankan government is willing to help Seychelles in the
fisheries industry. President Mahinda Rajapaksa has guided us to grant
new vessels produced by Cey-nor Foundation to Seychelles. We also have
the ability to train your fishermen,” the minister said.
“We hope to make arrangements to commence these projects soon,” Dr
Senaratne said.
