Hambantota SC Blues in 57-41 win

Hambantota Sports Club Blues beat Hambantota SC Blacks by 57 points
to 41 points in the final “A” Group match of Carlton Cup Basketball 2012
played at Henry Pedris Courts, Colombo yesterday.
HSC Blues displayed a fine performance leading in the beginning of
the first quarter. But the Blacks posed a threat towards the rival by
equalizing their score to 18 all in the midway. However, the strong HSC
Blues averted the pressure form their opponents and posted a seven point
lead in the first quarter ( 13 – 6). HSC Blues increased their lead
making a tough game for HSC Blacks. Some magical performances were
witnessed in the match, which proved the talents of both teams. HSC
Blues led 26 – 20 at halftime
In the third quarter the lads from HSC Blues kept their opponents
under control and increased the lead towards the end ( 42 – 27 ) never
allowing the HSC Blacks to make in roads.
In the final quarter HSC Blues had turned the match in their favour
and they played comfortably while challenging their rival. The HSC
Blacks players missed some golden opportunities of scoring which
resulted in them sliding to defeat.
Terrance (14 points), Mithila (10 points) and Vibhavi (nine) were the
top contributors for winners while Gihan ( 19 points) and Tharindu (12
points) were the best for the losers.
The Knockout matches of the tournament will take place on today at
the same location . Old Senanayakians BC will meet Royal College BC at
5.30 pm and Moratuwa BC will take on Buffaloes BC at 7.00 pm |
