A new project was initiated using ancient and better quality seeds on seven acres at the Kalutara Police Training College premises with the intention of reintroducing them to farmers.

Permanent resident staff and amateur trainees of Police College headed by college director Sanjeewa Dharmaratna implemented the programme.

Among the seeds introduced are Kurulu Thuda, Hichchi Nangi, Ratathawalu, Suwadel, Polael, Ratathawalu, Heenati, Madathawalu and Maha wee.

Only compost manure will be used for the project.

Dharmaratne said farmers will follow the method to stop using chemical and poisonous manure used throughout the country.
