Mercantile Volleyball tourney to be revived

The Mercantile Volleyball tournament organized by the Mercantile Volleyball Association ( MVA) will commence after a lapse of five years on December 1 at the Maharagama Youth Centre.

The preliminary rounds consisting of knock out games of both men’s and women’s categories will be held on December 1 and 2 while the semi finals and finals will be held on December 16 at the same venue.

The tournament which is open to MVA registered firms with no restrictions on the number of teams participating for a single organization.

Trophies and attractive cash prizes are on offer for the winner. The closing date for the applications is November 20.

The MVA has been revived after a laps of five years. The tournament is significant as many national players emerged through MVA tourney in the past.

MVA plans to hold beach volleyball, park volleyball tournaments in the future in order to popularize the national sports and also to bring the hidden talents to national stage.
