Hambantota in 61 - 49 win over Avant Garde

Hambantota SC Blues team beat Avant Garde Sports Club by 61 points to 49 in the Carlton Cup 2012 Basketball tournament played at Henry Pedris Grounds recently.

Meanwhile, Hambantota Blues claimed an easy win in their match against Wattala Basketball Club ‘A’ team recently.

HSC Blues were leading in the match from the initial stages and the scores read 36 – 19 in the first quarter. The lads from Hambantota were able to maintain the momentum and the match ended 67 points 42 in favour of HSC.

Sidath Senanayake and Thiwanka Perera were the main contributors for Hambantota Sports Club. Sidath scored 16 points while Thiwanka added 15 points to his team.Kevin Vichakshana was tha main contributor for Wattala ‘A’ team Meanwhile Wattala ‘B’ emerged victorious with a close 43 – 39 against Peterites ‘B’ .In the first half it was 22 – 18 .Pradeep Pushpakumara was the main contributor for winners with 14 points while Omesh Marshall scored 11 points for the losers.

In the second round of the Carlton Cup Basketball 2012, Kurunegala SC beat Old Anandians Basketball Club by 53 points to five and Dharmasoka BC emerged victorious over Navy ‘B’ team by 62 points to 53.

Thurstan beat Royal

In the Carlton Inter Schools Basketball Tournament Thurstan College beat the gallant Royal College, Colombo by a margin of 23 points .Though the match was sealed in favour of Thurstanites (29 – 6), they were beaten in the next match by St.Benedict’s College Colombo by 27 points to 7.

In the match between Royal College Colombo and De Lasalle College Colombo , Royal came up with a stupendous performance and beat the Lasallians by 31 – 14. Mazenod College recorded a wafer thin two point win over Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa. Visakha Vidyalaya triumphed over Colombo International School (CIS) easily.
