Two prison guards interdicted

Two guards were interdicted over last Friday’s Welikada Prison riots which took a heavy toll in terms of life and property.

The two guards are alleged to have being engaged in an altercation at the height of the confrontation with a senior DIG, a prison source revealed.

There was no prison transport in operation from the Welikada Prison to the Aluthkade Court complex on this day.This was attributed to the damage sustained by prisons vehicles in addition to security concerns.
