New pension scheme for farmers

The proposed pension scheme for farmers will be presented before the Cabinet for its approval, said International Monetary Co-operation Minister Sarath Amunugama yesterday in Parliament.

He made this observation in response to a question raised by UNP MP Sajith Premadasa. He said the matter was discussed at the ministerial level.

The minister said that the government would not act in a manner that would cause inconvenience to farmers.

He said measures will be taken to bring this Cabinet paper soon.
