Upali Karunarathna of No. 137. Nittambuwa Road Weyangoda is suffering from a severe kidney disease. Dr. Nazar has recommended a kidney to transplant for which he needs a B positive kidney.

Get-together

The Alumni Association of the University of Peradeniya, Colombo Chapter will hold its family get-together for 2012 at the Rock House, Gangarama Road, Piliyandala on November 18 from 9.30 am onwards. Music will be provided by Mahanama Wickramasinghe and his group with vocals from Jayalath Manoratne, Nissanka Diddeniya, Mahanama and Mark Anthony of Sinhabahu fame.


Elderly couple slashed to death

Nittambuwa Police commenced a search operation to arrested the suspects wanted in connection with an incident where an elderly couple was slashed to death at their home in Walpola, Nittambuwa at around 1.30pm yesterday.

The wife, 58 year old W R Swarnawathi died on the spot while her 71 year old husband, succumbed at the Colombo National Hospital after being transferred from Wathupitiwala Hospital. The Atttanagalla Magistrate has commenced the magisterial investigation.


Nine families evacuated following landslide threat

Nine families in the Kalatuwawakanda mountain area in the Ayagama Divisional Secretariat Division have been evacuated in view of a possible landslide. Torrential rains experienced in the past weeks have posed a landslide threat in the area.Ayagama Divisional Secretary Dayananda Kalambagama, ADS Anuruddha Jayakody and PS Chairman Nishantha Pushpakumara visited the scene and instructed the families to evacuate from the area.


IATA Global Human Capital Summit today

The SriLankan Airlines sponsored,second International Air Transport Association (IATA) Global Human Capital Summit,'Talent for Tomorrow,' will begin today at the Hilton Colombo. Over 150 participants will attend this year's event.

Earlier this year, SriLankan, successfully won its bid to host and gained principal sponsorship rights to the summit. Senior International Monetary Co-operation Minister Dr.Sarath Amunugama will be the Chief Guest.
