Buddhist panel discussion
“The next Buddhist Panel Discussion of the Colombo YMBA will be held
on Sunday November 18 at 10.00 am at its Borella building on “Practice
of Renunciation”. The panelists are Dhamma Weerakoon and Dr Kosala de
Silva, Consultant Physician and President, Servants of the Buddha
Society, with Rajah Kuruppu as Moderator. All are welcome.”
Golden Jubilee of Arts Faculty
The University of Colombo Arts Faculty completes 50 years in 2013.
Colombo ‘63 Alumni Association will hold celebrations to mark the Golden
Jubilee. The organizing committee will hold on January 26, 2013. A “Guru
Abhinandana Ulela” in appreciation of the lecturers, and a get-together
of the ‘63 group have been arranged.

Three Books on Sinhala Journalism
Three Sinhala books on Sinhlaa Journalism – ‘Pioneers of Sinhala
Journalism'. A Recent History of Sinhala Press’ and ‘Martin
Wickremasinghe – Journalist’ written by Dr Sandagomi Coperahewa, Senior
Lecturer – Department of Sinhala, University of Colombo will be launched
on November 22 at 3.30 pm at the Sri Lanka National Library and
Documentation Services Board Auditorium, Independence Square, Colombo 7.
Emeritus Professor J B Disanayake will preside the occasion and Prof
Sunanda Mahendra and Prof Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa will make short
presentations.
Janasevana housing complex construction starts
Constructions of Janasewana Wangal state workers’ housing complex in
Nanatan Divisional Secretariat, Mannar will start today under the
patronage of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common
Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa.
Under the project the ministry plans to build 60 houses and the
National Housing Development Authority will provide Rs 0.5 million
housing loan for each beneficiaries with the support of National Savings
Bank.

A branch of Matara District capital Co-operative Society's Bank will
be opened at Kalubowitiyana bazaar on November 16 at 10.15 am.
