Religious programmes to bless President
Vavuniya
Sathi Pirith, a recitation to invoke blessings on President Mahinda
Rajapaksa for his birthday and on the people, Security Forces, Police
and the country commenced yesterday at the Sri Dalada Temple at
Madukandqa, Vavuniya. The Sathi Pirith will continue till November 11.
The religious ceremonies are conducted on the advise of the Chief
Incumbent and the Depalathe Adhikarana Sanga Nayake Ven. Kurundugoda
Rathanasara Thera.
The recitation of the Sathi Pirith is led by chief of the Vavuniya
Bodhidakshinaramadhipathi (formerly the Parivenadhipathi -Sri
Dhamamrathan Pirivena) Ven. Muwaetagama Ananda Thera and North and East
Adhikarana Sanga Nayake Ven.Siyambalanwewa Wimalasara Thera.

Secretariat, Religious Affairs Ministry and Puttalam District Office
commernced yesterday at Wardawatte Saranakara Piriven Viharaya,

Gampola
A number of religious and social ceremonies have been organised in
Gampola on the directives of Prime Minister D. M. Jayaratne, to mark the
second year of the Second Term in Office as Executive President of the
country of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
A special religious ceremony to mark the occasion will be held on
November 19 at the Ambuluwawa Multi Religious Centre. Children of low
income families will be given bank pass-books, school uniforms,
instrument boxes and clothes. Books will also be donated to a number of
selected schools.
The distribution of these items will take place on November 21 at the
National Heritage Centre, Gampola.
The event is organised by the Coordinating Office of the Prime
Minister and the Jayaratne Sports Club of Gampola.
