Deepavali messages

Pray for a brighter future

The All Ceylon Hindu Congress issuing a Deepavali message said; "We appeal to all the Hindus living here and worldwide to engage in prayers to His Almighty Shri Sivakami Samedha Nadaraja Peruman on this Deepavali Day for a brighter future for our people and all of us at the All Ceylon Hindu Congress (Federation of Hindu Religious Associations and Trusts in Sri Lanka), also join in that prayer to His Almighty. 'We pray to His Almighty Shri Sivakami Samedha Nadaraja Peruman to bestow His blessings on all".

Let Deepavali be a celebration of Lanka's cultural identity

"As Hindus all over the country prepare to celebrate Deepavali, the Festival of Light, let us remember all that it signifies; the triumph of good over evil, a prayer for a more enlightened world and a wish for a more prosperous peaceful future filled with light, 'Colombo Mayor A.J.M. Muzamil said in a Deepavali message.

"May this Deepavali be a celebration of Sri Lanka's multi-cultural identity and may the lamps lit in every Hindu home light the path to illumination for this beautiful island, its people and ultimately, the whole world.

"I wish all Hindus celebrating this festival today, a very happy Deepavali.
