8th National Abacus, Brain Gym & Mental Arithmetic Competition:

More than 600 contestants from 21 SIP Learning Centres in Colombo, Badulla, Malwane, Kandy,Monaragala and Negombo competed on Abacus, Brain Gym and Mental Arithmetic skills competition which was held recently at the St.Joseph's College auditorium under the age group between seven to 12 years.

SIP Academy Sri Lanka conducted the first International Abacus, Brain Gym & Mental Arithmetic Competition in Sri Lanka in Colombo in December 2007. "The students were tested on their concentration, confidence, intelligence, speed and accuracy.

The 8th Competition held in Sri Lanka inspired the talents of many youngsters. It is heartening to see the competitive spirit amongst these children and their self-confidence which is essential in life," said Managing Director (MD), SIP India/Sri Lanka, Dinesh Victor.

The Chief Guest, Head of the Department of Biochemistry , Rajarata University, Dr. Faiz Marikkar distributed the prizes and said that parents should concentrate more on educating their children and Abacus is a very good programme to enhance your child to do better in his or her studies as this programme helps to develop the children's memory and concentration.

Director, Independence Television Network (ITN), Hashim Omar was the Guest of Honour.

SIP Academy Sri Lanka which was incepted in 2004, is a skill development organization.

The 'world-class' programme for children offered is designed for children of age five to 15 years that improve their learning skills. At SIP Sri Lanka, we understand that each kid is unique with his or her potential to be a winner.

SIP's credo has always been to develop programmes 'Keeping the Child in Mind' and hence follow the fun learning methodology. SIP Academy Sri Lanka has more than 22 SIP Learning Centres in Borella, Demtagoda, Grandpass, Kotahena, Mattakuliya, Kollannawa, New Chetty Street, Kalubowila, Narahenpita, Bambalapitiya, Colpetty, Wellawatte, Wattala, Negombo, Badulla, Kandy, Monaragala, Kathankuddy, Gampola and in Malwane, where they conduct the SIP Abacus & Brain Gym programme.

Director and Founder of the SIP Academy Kelvin Tham and Country Manager Sri Lanka Rishard Raheem were also present at this occasion.
