Desert Cubs SLQS-UAE indoor cricket champions

SLQS-UAE Trophy, inter-club indoor cricket tournament was held at Dubai Insportz Courts at Al Quoz, Dubai recently. The event, which has become a permanent fixture in the local cricket calendar in the United Arab Emirates, saw 16 teams in four groups in contest in the round robin format.

Plate champions Sinha Cricket Club team

The top ranked team of each group played for the Trophy Championship while the runners-up and second runner-up of each group progressed to compete in the Plate and Cup Championship respectively. Desert Cubs Cricket Academy, Hard Hitters, Rigga Boys, and Indian Quantity Surveyors fought for the Trophy in the semi-final whilst Kickers Cricket Club, Active Boys Cricket Club, Damac LLC, and Fun Boys Cricket Club played for the Shield in the semi-finals. For the Plate championship Singha Cricket Club, Nabi Azam Partners, Dubai Properties Group (Blue), and Faithful and Gould were selected.

Defending champions Desert Cubs Cricket Academy convincingly beat Rigga Boys Cricket Club to become the SLQS Trophy champion 2012 for the consecutive second year. Fifteen years old Kulith Rabel of Desert Cubs Cricket Academy was adjudged as the player of the Trophy.

Kickers Cricket Club were the winners of the Shield and Fun Boys Cricket Club were the Runner-Up. NishanthThuraisami of Kickers Cricket Clubwas adjudged as the Payer of the Shield. At the Plate completion, following close encounter Sinha Cricket Club beat Faithful and Gould and become the SLQS Indoor Cricket Plate winners. Sheik Azeem of Dubai Properties Group - Blue team adjudged as the player of the Plate considering his outstanding performance in the final rounds of the tournament.

The chief guest, Nabih E. Azzam, Chairman and CEO of NEA and Partners, distributed the trophies for the winners of the tournament.
