Rain and bad light deprived Nugawela Central College of a certain
outright win in their inter-school cricket match against Azar Central
College, Akurana concluded at Azar grounds, Akurana yesterday.
Nugawela Central College batting first made 163 all out with Kasun
Wickremasinghe making a hard hit 55 with 8 fours, Mohamed Rahumatullah
took 4 for 49 and Mohamed Nuslan 3 for 17. Nugawela Central College were
able to successfully defend this small total on a pint sized grounds as
they skittled out Azar Central College for 62. Left arm spinner
Dharshana Samarakoon wrought havoc by capturing 5 for 20 with his medium
pacers supported by Sameera Hapuarachchi who took 4 for 26.
Forced to follow on Azar Central College fared a little better by
scoring 99 for 4 and thus they were able to escape with a draw.
