Deepavali Festival celebrations
The official Deepavali Festival celebrations organised by the
National Languages and Social Integration Ministry will be held on
November 13 at 9.30am at Ponnambalam Vaneshwar Kovil, Kochchikade,
Colombo.
Armed Forces Remembrance Day
A multi-religious ceremony of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day
ceremony will be held on November 11 at 9am at the Cenotaph, Viharamaha
Devi Park, Colombo 7.
Blood donation at Sri Sumangala
A blood donation campaign and a medical camp will be held at Sri
Sumangala College, Panadura on November 11 from 8.30am to 3pm.
The presentation of scholarships to 51 new university entrants and 21
students of the college will also be held on the same day.
It is organised by the Sri Sumangala College, Panadura Junior OBA and
Old Boys' Medical Officers' Association.
St Anthony's fund raiser at BMICH
St. Anthony's Church, Kollupitiya will hold a sing along on November
17 at the BMICH to collect funds for several charity and poor relief
projects which will be implemented during the 75th Jubilee Year
2012-2013.
It will star Annesley Malawana and his band who will perform with
Manilal Perera as a guest artiste.
Tickets could be purchased at the entrance and from the church
office, 100, St Anthony's Mawatha, Kollupitiya.
Scholarship awarding ceremony
The scholarship awarding ceremony organised by Sri Lanka AGONSO
Friendship Society will be held on November 11 at 2pm at the BMICH,
Colombo.
Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa will be the Chief Guest.

Clearance day
A clearance day will be held at schools in the Western Province
tomorrow in line with the Nena Guna Weduma programme of the Mahinda
Chintana policy statement of the government.
The programme will be held under the patronage of Western Province
Chief Minister and Western Province Education Minister Prasanna
Ranatunga.
The programme, which aims at creating a clean and attractive school
environment, will commence at 8.27am with the planting of a sapling.
Golden Jubilee
Rahula College Past Pupils Association Colombo branch Golden Jubilee
celebrations will be held today.
A Bodhi Pooja and a Dhammanusasana will be held today in the evening
followed by a Sanghika Dana the following day for 50 Bhikkus. The events
will be held at the Sri Lanka Vidyalaya Temple, Sri Vipulasena Mawatha,
Colombo 10.
Ven Gonadeniye Dhammissara Thera will lead the Bodhi Pooja, while
Bhikku Mawarale Bhaddiya Thera will deliver the sermons.
The PPA has also launched a programme to renovate the temple's
Bauddha Mandiraya.
Burgher Assn AGM
The 11th Annual General Meeting of the Burgher Association will be
held today at 6.30pm at the Dutch Burgher Union Hall, 114, Reid Avenue,
Colombo 4.
Association president Hans Beekmeyer will preside.
The election of office-bearers for 2012/2013 will be conducted by
Trevor Ludowyke as pro-tem chairman. Registration of members will
commence at 5.30 pm. The AGM will be followed by a 'Members Only
Fellowship' from 7.30 pm.
Panel discussion
An analysis of Local Authorities Elections (Amendment) Act will be
held on November 12 from 4pm to 6pm at the Law and Society Trust, 4,
Kynsey Terrace, Colombo 8.
Panelists are Chulani Kodikara, Elmore M. Perera and Attorney-at-Law
Niran Anketell.
Annual Requiem Mass
The Colombo Chetty Association of Sri Lanka has arranged a Special
Requiem Mass. The service will be held on November 12 at 6.30pm at the
Church of Our Lady of Sorrows (Mater dolorosa), New Chetty Street,
Colombo 13.
Rev Fr. Malcolm Candappa will officiate at the Requiem Mass.
Day with the differently abled
The International Association of Lions Clubs District 306 A1 has
organised a district project on November 11 from 9am at De Soysa
Stadium, Moratuwa, for the differently abled,
Events such as sports, music, entertainment, comedy skits will be the
main attractions.
Prizes and gifts will be distributed. Project chairman of this event
is Lion Hasitha de Alwis. |
