Mahinda Chinthanaya for SAARC delegates

Copies of the English version of the Mahinda Chinthanaya were distributed by Parliamentarian A H M Azwer to delegates participating at the Sixth Conference of Speakers and Parliamentarians of SAARC in Islamabad, Pakistan.

Interest was shown by delegates of the SAARC region after Azwer quoted relevant portions in his speech at the concluding session of the conference, on terrorism and the village re-awakening programmes as mentioned in the Mahinda Chinthana.

Several delegates desired to obtain copies of this book thereafter.

Sinhalese was spoken for the first time at a conference held abroad, when MP Malini Fonseka, addressed the session in Sinhala, which was interpreted into English by her Parliamentary colleague A H M Azwer. Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody addressed the opening session.
