Korea assists development work

All development work in the area coming within the Akkaraipattu Municipal Council are to be funded by the Korean government. A proposal to allocate sufficient funds from the financial aid of Korean government has drawn the attention of the authorities.

Preliminary works have commenced to effect those projects designed and to be implemented by the Asia Foundation.

This matter was discussed in detail at Akkaraipattu Municipal Council recently. Municipal Commissioner A. L. M. Azmi, Municipal Engineer A. M. M. Hakeem, Senior Technical Advisor A. Subakaran, Eastern Province Programme Officer M. I. M. Waleeth participated at this important meeting.

The Finance and Administration of all local bodies such as Batticaloa, Kalmunai, Akkaraipattu Municipal Councils, Ampara, Trincomalee Urban Councils have been included and these local bodies will get the maximum benefits from this programme.
