Kramski invests Rs. 160 mn in new factory

Kramski Lanka (Private) Limited, a premier German venture in Katunayake Export Promotion Zone, has launched construction work on a new factory building estimated to cost Rs.160 million in order to increase its production capacity in Sri Lanka. German Ambassador to Sri Lanka Dr. Jürgen Morhard was the chief guest at the Foundation Stone Laying held on October 5, 2012. The project is planned to be completed by June 2013, to coincide with the 20th Anniversary of the company.

Chairman, Kramski Lanka Wiestaw Kramski is quite optimistic about the post war economic development and peaceful environment of the country. He said that this investment would help exploit the potential market opportunities in European, American and Asian markets despite the prevailing global economic crisis to bring more valuable foreign exchange to the country.

The new building with 2,100 square meter floor space, will facilitate accommodating a minimum of 16 injections moulding machines and six stamping press machines, leading to doubling the plastic moulding and stamping production capacity of the company.

The new factory would also generate 100 more employment opportunities in the fields of stamping and moulding and the turnover of the company is projected to increase up to Rs.2.2 billion in the next five years, which is double the current export revenue of the company.

Kramski Lanka (Pvt) Limited is a subsidiary of Kramski GmbH which is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high performance stamping dyes, complex stampings, mouldings and sub assemblies for world-renowned companies in the automotive, electronics, telecommunications, solar and medical industries.

Kramski Lanka was established in Sri Lanka in 1993 as a supplier of component parts for stamping dyes, high precision moulds and finished moulded products for European, North American and Asian markets.

Since 1993, the company has been growing steadily, aided by high precision German stamping and moulding technology introduced to the country. The company has now generated 250 jobs in the moulding and stamping fields.

Kramski Lanka (Pvt)Limited is the only company currently in Sri Lanka that has been awarded the ISO/TS16949:2009 quality standard certificate. The company also possesses the ISO 14001:2004 environmental certificate.

One of the key factors contributing to the successful growth of the company, is its well trained employees who count many years of experience continuously with the company: many of whom had undergone training in Germany.

The company also has its own training center which has been accredited as an A+ vocational training center by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission of Sri Lanka. It is also the first such institution in Sri Lanka conducting courses in dyes and tool making with the objective of turning young talented students into experts in tools and moulds, making a sector that has limited resources and training opportunities in the country.
