2013 Budget Forum: Reaction to budget proposals by industry leaders
KPMG Sri Lanka, together with a leading TV channel, is to conduct a
live forum on the 2013 fiscal proposals in an islandwide broadcast on
November 8, 2012, as to how industry leaders react to the fiscal
proposals. Moderated by Reyaz Mihular, Managing Partner of KPMG Sri
Lanka, the broadcast in English would feature a panel of industry
leaders who would share their perspectives on the proposals and the
perceived impacts on a number of industries, including financial
services, consumer markets, tourism, agriculture, manufacturing and
industry.
A highlight of this programme would be a discussion with an eminent
panel comprising Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Governor of the Central Bank,
Rajendra Theagarajah, Managing Director, Hatton National Bank, Kumar
Jayasuriya, Chairman of Finlays Colombo PLC, Hiran Cooray, Chairman of
Jetwing Hotels Limited and Director of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development
Authority, Hemaka Amarasuriya, Chairman of Singer Sri Lanka PLC and the
National Development Bank, Anura Ekanayake, Immediate Past Chairman of
the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and Suresh Shah, Vice Chairman of the
Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and Managing Director of Lion Brewery Ceylon
PLC. Suresh Perera, Principal Tax & Regulatory of KPMG Sri Lanka, would
present the salient points of the proposals and their potential impacts.
The panel for the broadcast in Sinhala moderated by Suresh Perera,
Principal of Tax & Regulatory of KPMG in Sri Lanka, would also include
Kshanika Hirimburegama, Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, W.
K. H. Wegapitiya, Chairman of Laugfs Holdings and R.P.L Weerasinghe, a
former Commissioner General of Inland Revenue and a former Senior
Advisor to the Ministry of Finance and Planning.
The broadcast in Tamil moderated by Ranjani Joseph, Partner, KPMG in
Sri Lanka, would comprise Jegan Durairatnam, Executive Director and
Chief Operating Officer of Commercial Bank of Ceylon, S. Nagarajah,
Executive Vice President, Finance, of the DFCC Bank and P. Nirmalan,
