Man missing in floods

Payagala Police commenced a search operation to find the body of K B
N Nuwan Sanjeewa, 22, of Halkandawala who drowned in Sinhagama, Payagala
while fishing in the flood waters in a paddy field on Wednesday.
Refused tea seized

Acting on information received by the intelligence unit of the STF
Headquarters, an STF team led by SI Adhikarai raided a store belonging
to a leading private firm on Nuge road,
Peliyagoda, seized 40,000 Kg of refused tea and arrested a suspect
who was guarding the illegal stock of tea. The suspect and the stock of
tea was handed over to the CID for further investigations.

Lecture
Head and Senior Professor of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology of the
Faculty of Medicine of Colombo Prof Ravindra Fernando will deliver a
public lecture on “Medico Legal Aspects of Torture in Sri Lanka” at the
auditorium of Organization of Professional Associations no. 275/75, Prof
Stanley Wijesundera Mawatha, Colombo 7 on November 14 at 6.00 pm.
The lecture is organized by the British Scholars Association of Sri
Lanka.
Workshop
The Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA) subcommittee on women’s
health will hold a pre-congress workshop on the media responsibility on
reporting violence against women and children at the SLMA on November 9

Boy drowns in well
Jaffna spl corr
A six-year-old boy was drowned, when he and his mates jumped into a
well which was brimful of water to practice swimming. The boy drowned as
he could not swim.
He was identified as Sivanandan Gunalan, a student of the Chankanai
American Mission School. |
