A mass blood donation campaign, an eye clinic and a spectacle distribution programme was held at the Eheliyagoda Madya Maha Vidyalaya auditorium with the participation of a large number of blood donors and cataract patients recently.

This campaign was well-organized by the district C 2 Lions club of Eheliyagoda and the Eheliyagoda MMV Old Boys' Association. Eheliyagoda Lion Governor Premasinghe Kuruppu told the Daily News that 137 cataract patients were chosen for lens transplants at the Nethsetha Eye Hospital in Ratnapura. A total number of 100 citizens donated blood to the Blood Bank. 350 spectacles were distributed among the needy, he added.

The participants were provided with nutritions, soft drinks and a meal by the organisers.
