Response entitlement
The opinion of a single cadet should not be taken to judge the
opinion of all cadets, the National Cadet Corps said in response to the
article titled 'Indian cadets lament South India's treatment of Lankan
military trainees' published in the Daily News on October 31.
The National Cadet Corps spokesman said: "It can be noted that during
the past few years, the youth exchange programme of the National Cadet
Corps has developed immensely due to the efforts of Sri Lanka and its
neighbouring SAARC countries.
"This year too, a large number of cadets visited Sri Lanka during the
Hermann Loos/De Soysa Parade, whilst Sri Lankan cadets visited other
countries in exchange. The National Cadet Corps is of the view that the
article 'Indian cadets lament South India's treatment of Lankan military
trainees' published in the Daily News on 31.10.2012 after interviewing
an Indian cadet without the knowledge and consent of relevant
authorities of the National Cadet Corps may have an adverse effect on
further development and the ongoing success of the youth exchange
programme.
"The embassy concerned has also expressed their dissent over the
publishing of this type of article. The National Cadet Corps would also
like to highlight that the opinion of a single cadet should not be taken
to judge the opinion of all cadets." |
