Jayantha de Silva
The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) on Wednesday filing a B report
submitted to Additional Magistrate Nishantha Pieris that investigations
are being conducted to ascertain the veracity of the doctorate used by a
person who is using his title to lodge various complaints against OICs
and other senior police officers citing various allegations.
However, the CCD has not listed the respondent as a suspect. In this
case, CCD said Mohomed Ghouse Suleiman Zurfick, a resident of Wellawatte
is using the title Dr Zurfick and is in the habit of visiting police
stations levelling complaints on various allegations.
When expected answers in respect for his complaints are not received,
the respondent resorts to lodge complaints against officers at the
Police Headquarters.
Apart from that, he had complained against various NGOs.
The national identity card states his profession as businessman.
The CCD informed him to surrender his ID to the Registration of
Persons Department.
Furthermore, Interpol has informed that the doctorate is not a legal
title.
On the direction of the CCD director, investigations are being
conducted by IP Edirisuriya. Attorney - at - law Sisira Senanayake
appearing for the respondent submitted that the doctorate awarding
ceremony was held under the auspices of a lady VVIP.
There is no sufficient evidence to prove the allegations which are
both fictitious and malicious and pleaded to discharge the respondent.
Further hearings were postponed for February 13, 2013. |
