Trees cause damage

A woman died while six others were seriously injured when a Lunumidella tree collapsed on them at the Dunagana weekly fair in Divulapitiya on Wednesday afternoon.

The injured were admitted to Divulapitiya and Negambo hospitals while the woman succumbed to her injuries at Gampaha hospital. 63 year old Ann Margeret of Dunagaha died in the mishap.

Meanwhile, another woman was hospitalized when a tree fell on a three wheeler while the woman was travelling in it near the children's park on Milton Perera Mawatha in Maligawatte on the same day. She is being treated at the Colombo National hospital.

In Badulla , two houses were damaged when trees collapsed on them due to strong winds and heavy lashes prevailed in Hali Ela, Unagolla and Egodagama on Wednesday. The electricity supply has also been badly damaged in the area.

Badulla police continue rescue operations.
