Road renovation project in Beruwela

Six main roads in the Beruwela area are to be carpeted and fully
renovated at a cost of Rs.80 million, Beruwela Urban Council Chairman
Milfer Caffoor said.
He said Ports and Highways Deputy Minister Nirmala Kotalawela and
Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Minister Rajitha Senarathne who both
hail from the Kalutara district had helped to obtain the funds.
According to UC Chairman Caffoor, instructions has been given to the
Road Development Authority(RDA) by Deputy Minister Kotalawela to
renovate the roads within one month. The roads to be renovated under the
project are, new Kannangoda Road, Yousuf Avenue, Dharga Road, Maradana
Hanafi Road, Xavier Road and Samad Road.
Caffoor said the Beruwela township is slated to undergo a facelift
within the next few months with many development projects in the
pipeline.
He said Beruwela will be developed as a a city which possess many
attractions for tourists and also as a business hub on the Galle-Colombo
main road.
