World Occupational Therapy Day - October 27

The "World Occupational Therapy Day-2012" is to be celebrated around
the world on October 27. The World Federation of Occupational Therapists
(WFOT) has declared October 27 each year as "World Occupational Therapy
Day". This day was first launched on October 27, 2010. Since then, it
has become an important date in the occupational therapy calendar to
promote and celebrate the profession internationally. The Sri Lanka
Society of Occupational Therapists (SLSOT) which represents the WFOT has
arranged all aspects to celebrate this important event on October 27.
SLSOT Secretary and Acting Superintendent Occupational Therapist of
Ragama Hospital's Occupational Therapy Department P.D.Yapa said they
have made arrangements to hold Sri Lanka's main celebration of the World
Occupational Therapy Day at the Ragama Rehabilitation Hospital.
"Educational and awareness programmes will be conducted. The SLSOT
will also hold a musical and cultural show for patients at the hospital
premises, "he added. Yapa noted that the Regional Occupational Therapy
Units in Jaffna, Chilaw, Peradeniya, Hambanthota and Matara hospitals
will also hold programmes simultaneously, with the main programme being
held at the Ragama Rehabilitation Hospital to mark "World Occupational
Therapy Day-2012". The WFOT is the international voice of the
occupational therapy profession founded with the collaborative
membership of 69 countries, including, Sri Lanka and it is globally made
up of national occupational therapy professional organizations.
