Surain Dissanayake

He enjoys life at his island-like place close to Polgolla dam penning down aesthetic lines while playing guitar to give them a rhythm. Surain Dissanayake, mostly known as Surain D, is a popular musician and a lyricist. He is gifted with multiple talents in music.

His pen and guitar together have created a number of very popular songs among youth. Some of them are 'Sudu Pata mal watuna rathu pata mal gawma', 'Re ahase tharu', 'Aradana', 'Tharuwak Watenna Lan wela', 'Seethala Nagaraya', 'Dedunu Hendewe' etc.

He began his music career as a guitar player attached to a music band. He was a music lover even while being a student at St. Anthony's College, Katugastota. Once he joined the music band, he was exposed to the music industry where he got chances to go abroad.

He has been to Maldives and spent four years there working with his band. During that time, he was able to excelled his born talents and currently he is back in Sri Lanka with the purpose of giving something good to the music fans.

He conducts music classes at his home where there are a lot who are interested in learning to play guitar. The specialty of Surain is, he never copies others' music patterns and lyrics since he carries out his own style. Every song he writes is based on his or one of his close friends' personal experience.
