Continuous contribution to music

Kalaik Kamal has been continuously performing for 30 years in the field of music. He can be specifically mentioned as a senior artiste who has performed with all the Tamil an Sinhalese musical groups in Sri Lanka.

He is an audition artiste at the SLBC and SLRC and also has solely composed music and lyrics for many songs. But he has won the fame and popularity among his fans by performing cinema songs.

He got an opportunity to sing Tamil songs at the ‘Nandana Windana’ programme of Abeyawardena Balasooriya produced by Rupavahini and also at many TV programmes and gained success and popularity in his career path. He received the appreciation of many by performing in the Audio cassette, ‘Indian Baila’ of Earnest de Soysa of ‘Super Star’ Musical group.

Kalaik Kamal from his own efforts successfully produced an Audio cassette, ‘Wasantha Geethangal’ and won further felicitations and appreciations.

He received the honorific invitation of almost all the Sinhalese Musical groups in Sri Lanka when he was the leading Singer at Musical Groups such as ‘Super Sons’ and ‘Rainbow'.

He has staged and conducted numerous programmes all over the island inclusive of North, East and southern provinces.

He has initiated the musical career path of popular Artistes like Rani Joseph, Apsaras Lilli by offering them the opportunity to perform in his first CD. Moreover, he has also introduced Tamil Artistes Nilamadhi, Rani Jospeh and Sridhar Pichchayappa to Sinhalese Musical Field.

Kamal will conduct a one-man musical show, ‘Geeth Raath’, an Islamic Devotional Songs programme.

He has been successful in his path and has organized his 28th ‘Geeth Raath’ programme on October 29 at 7.00 pm at J. R. Jayewardene Centre, Colombo 7, Under the sponsorship of the Khalid Foundation.

This programme has been welcomed and appreciated by many fans. For Hajj festival, this will be conducted free of charge for audience.

He is not only a songster but also a popular and best poet – writer-lyricist.

Kalaik Kamal's father, Mahudhoom A Cader is a popular songster who has performed for about 45 years in Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation.

Kalaik Kamal is from an Artiste family who has been honoured by many.

Being the native, he also lives contemporarily in Colombo who is a past student of Colombo Hameed Al Husseini College.
