Deputy mayor remanded until Oct 25

The Dambulla Pradeshiya Sabha deputy mayor taken into custody for allegedly soliciting and accepting Rs 100,000 for a road development project was remanded until October 25 by Colombo chief magistrate Rashmi Singappuli yesterday.

The complainant Ekamuthu Dambulla Govijanaseva (Agriculture) Society president Dikpitiyagedara Mahinda said the suspect solicited and accepted Rs100,00 in connection with the Pohorawewa road development project. IP Gunawardana of the Commission to Investigate Bribery or Corruption investigated. PS S Chandrasiri prosecuted.
