Samudradevi, St. Anthony's in scoreless draw

Samudradevi Balika Vidyalaya, Nawayalatenna continued their stunning
performances when they held the more fancied St. Anthony's Girls
College, Kandy to a scoreless draw to emerge Toial champiars at the all
island schools.
Girls under-13 hockey championship organised by the Sri Lanka schools
Hockey Association and played at the Sgiriya stadium Kandy yesterday.
Samudradevi BV from the outscirt of Kandy stated hockey his than a
year ago and they put up a spirited performance to share the major
honours in their first major championship.
M Nawaratne of Samudra Devi BV was adjudged he best goal keeper of
the tournament while the most outstanding players award went to Saduni
Divagiri of St. Anthony's girl college.
D.K. Prakash and Dminda Perera umpired.
Seetha Devi Balika Vidyalaya clinched the third place by defeating
Sumangala BV Panadura 2-1 on penalty strokes.
Earlier in the semi finals St. Anthony's Girls College edged Seetha
Devi BV 1-0 during extra time after the match had ended in a one all
draw.
In the second semi find Samudra Devi BV beat Sumangala BV Panadura
1-0.
Mayor of Kandy Mahendra Ratwatte was the chief guest while the main
awards were distributed by Mrs. P.A. Ratwatte.
