Kataragama Devale Perahera
The Kotmale-Morape Sri Kataragama Devale Annual Perahera will be held
from October 15 to 29.
The water cutting ceremony will take place the following morning at
Morape river.
The Devala Peraheras will be held from October 15 to 19, the Kumbal
Perahera from 20 to 24 and the Randoli Perahera will be held from
October 25 to 29th.
Museums reopen
The S W R D Bandaranaike and Sirimavo Bandaranaike Museums closed due
to maintenance will be reopened to the public from October 16, the
Bandaranaike Museum Committee said yesterday. Apart from Mondays and
mercantile holidays, the museums will be open from 9am to 4pm.
Water cut
A 12 hour water cut will be imposed in parts of Colombo tomorrow, the
National Water Supply and Drainage Board said. The water cut will be
imposed in Maligawatta, Armour Street, Dam Street and St Sebastian Hill
from 8pm.
Public lecture
A public lecture delivered by Colombo Grand Mosque Chief Priest
Moulavi J Abdul Hameed on 'The significance of Qurban on the day of
Arafat' will be held today after Isha prayers at the Bambalapitiya Jumma
Mosque.
The lecture is organised by Ad-Diyathush Shazuli-yahtul Fassiya of
Sri Lanka.
Service
An exclusive service designed to assist those present to access the
divine grace of God will be held at the Cathedral of Christ the Living
Saviour, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7 on October 14 at 10.30am
Community Service
A community service programme organised by the Lion District 306 - B2
Gampaha circle in association with the Pasgammana Eksath Wijaya
Parakrama Village Development Society, Mahara Divisional Secretariat and
Medical Office of Health will be held at the Buthpitiya Primary School
on October 13 from 8.30am.
The programme will comprise a dental clinic, issuance of birth, death
and marriage certificates, screening for diabetes and other diseases and
awareness programmes.
Karaoke night
A Karaoke Night organised by the Young Men's Christian Association of
Colombo, 39, Bristol Street, Colombo 1 will be held on October 18 from
6pm. All are welcome.
Book launch
The book Mehewaraka Piyasatahan written by National Heritage Ministry
Secretary Kanthi Wijethunga will be launched today at 4.30pm at the
National Library Services, Colombo 7.
