Student clash over mobile phones

Two pupils of a leading boys' school in Nawalapitiya town were admitted to the Nawalapitiya District General Hospital following a clash between two groups of pupils in Grades 11 and 13.

The clash had arisen when the senior prefects in Grade 13 confiscated five mobile phones from the possession of five Grade 11 boys .

About 120 pupils in Year 11 A, B, C classes are alleged to have assaulted 20 pupils in Year 13 inside the college hall with clubs, stones, desks, chairs.

One student had a broken nose while another two had sustained hand injuries as a result of the clash.
