The Ceylon Bank Employees' Union (CBEU), Sri Lanka's only trade union
for local banking employees, recently introduced a privilege card named
'Bank U' for the benefit of its 29,000 members across the country.
Currently, various commercial establishments have agreed to collaborate
with the project and the CBEU members would now have the opportunity to
obtain attractive discounts for their daily needs of foods and services
through these commercial outlets. The CBEU is planning to further enter
into agreements with leading commercial institutions by facilitating
such attractive discounts.
"We hope to get attractive discounts by securing the collaboration of
all commercial establishments which could be used by all our members in
all districts of the country. The parent union would take action to
secure the collaboration with an islandwide branch network into the
Privilege Card project. The privilege card would be issued to all CBEU
members free of charge," CBEU Deputy Secretary Mahinda Jayaweera said. |
