Elizabeth Moir School champions

Elizabeth Moir School clinched the Dialog International Schools Champions Trophy when they defeated Royal Institute by 3-0 in a penalty shoot out after having tied at one all at half time on Wednesday.

During the first half there were few occasions for both teams to score goals which they did not make use of.

It was Elizabeth Moir who took the lead when J Pyo Hong converted a corner beating Royal Institute goal keeper in the 46th minute.

Royal Institute then put much weight on the forward line and counter attacked within ten minutes.

Referree Tharanga Kumara blew the final whistle and went for the penalty shoot out where Elizabeth Moir who had been undefeated during the tournament kept their reputation intact by hitting the target on three occasions.

Rizafath Ahamed of Royal Institute who scored 11 goals in the tournament won the Golden Boot Award for the highest goal scorer. Sandesh Mendis of Elizabeth Moir was given the Golden Ball Award for the most valuable player of the tournament.
