Theft of T20 World Cup tickets: foreigner pleads guilty

The foreigner who is alleged to have robbed 84 T20 World Cup match tickets from a Colombo ticket selling counter yesterday pleaded guilty to the charges preferred against him by the Cinnamon Gardens Police.

The suspect was produced by Cinnamon Gardens Police on Monday before Colombo Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Rashmi Singappuli and was remanded until yesterday October 2. The judge directed the suspect to be fingerprinted and ordered a Rs. one million bail bond with two sureties. The sureties should be Sri Lankan the judge said.

The suspect was produced before court by the Cinnamon Gardens Police Sgt. Mendis and PCs Sisira and Yasaratne. The case will be called again October 16. 2012. Senior Attorney Paranthaka Silva appeared for the foreigner
