The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign

British High Commissioner to Sri
Lanka John Rankin visited the Sahasak Nimavum Exibition held
at the BMICH yesterday. The exhibition was organized by the
Sri Lanka Inventors’ Commission (SLIC). SLIC commissioner

A Deshabhimani Punya Matha awards
ceremony to honour mothers who produced sons who rendered
honourable service to the nation was held under the
patronage of Prime Minister D M Jayaratne’s wife Anula Yapa
Jayaratne at the BMICH, Colombo on September 27. A batch of
122 mothers who produced great sons to the motherland
received Deshabhimani Punya Matha awards at the ceremony.

electronic arm to Rashmi Nimesha of Dehiowita Deloluwa
Junior School who obtained top marks at the Year Five
Scholarship Examination. Nimesha has no arms but only one
leg, which she uses to write on her exercise books. |

A robber gang responsible for several
robberies and other crimes in Batticaloa for a considerable
period was arretsed by Batticaloa Police on Monday. Police
also recovered gold jewellery, electrical goods and other
stolen items valued at nearly Rs 400,000 from their
possession. The suspects weer due to be produced before the
