Defence and Urban Development Ministry Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa
made a visit to review the progress of the housing complexes which are
under construction in the Colombo Metropolitan area on Monday.
Nearly 10,000 houses are being built under the first phase of the
housing project for low income families.
These housing projects are being carried out under the supervision of
the Defence Secretary.
He visited sites in Henamulla, Aluthmawatha, Ferguson Road, Cyril C
Perera Mawatha, Edirisinghe Mawatha, Maligawatte, Dematagoda, Estate 54,
Estate 66, Kolonnawa and Salamulla. Each of these Housing Complexes is
comprised of 12 floors. The ground floor will be reserved for business
and public purposes. The income generated from the ground floor will be
utilized for maintaining the housing complex. Each 400 square feet
housing unit consists of two rooms with all amenities. Urban Development
Authority chairman Nimal Perera, Director General Nihal Fernando and
Additional Director General Brigadier Samantha Jayasundara also
participated.
