Expolanka Holdings PLC's subsidiaries Expolanka (Pvt) Limited, Expolanka Freight (EFL) and Hello Corp (Pvt.) Ltd walked away with top honors with two Golds, one Silver and a Merit Award at the National Chamber of Exporters Awards Ceremony for the Year 2011, held in Colombo.

Expolanka Limited, the pioneer exporter of Sri Lanka's fresh fruits and vegetables starting in 1978, won the Gold Award in the 'Extra Large Category for Value Added Agriculture Coconut based Products' and the 'Most Outstanding Exporter Gold Award for Value Added Agriculture Exports'.

Expolanka’s winners on stage with the awards: Mohamed Annam, CEO – Expolanka (Pvt.) Ltd (third from left), Jagath Pathirane, Director/CEO – Expolanka Freight (EFL) (second from right) and Jayantha Liyanagamage, Director, Business Development (extreme right).

Expolanka (Pvt) Limited has a prominent presence in the markets of the Middle East, the Mediterranean, Africa, Australia, Europe, and the United Kingdom, and has continued to be Sri Lanka's largest exporter for these products, for the past several years.

Commenting on the award, Mohamed Annam, CEO of Expolanka Limited said, "We are honoured and privileged to receive this accolade. We have always been keen in developing the local industry and taking our products to the global market. This award is a testimony to our contribution and our efforts".

Expolanka Freight (EFL) won the Silver Award in the 'Extra- Large Service Provider Category'. Remarkably, EFL was the only company being recognised with an award in this category this year. It is noteworthy that EFL won Bronze in this category at the previous year's awards. Launched 30 years ago, EFL is a prominent IATA agent in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the USA. It commands a global footprint today with 1200+ staff strength across 16 countries and 45 cities.

Jagath Pathirane, CEO, Expolanka Freight said, "With very humble beginnings in the freight and logistics industry we are indeed proud today to be a local company which has spread its wings globally to as many as 16 countries. We have been able to thereby export our services and earn valuable foreign exchange in return. We are indeed proud to be the only company to be awarded in this category this year. This will no doubt motive us all to further continue our commitment to this industry".

Hello Corp (Pvt.) Ltd. the first-ever BOI approved BPO company in Sri Lanka, was recognized for its pioneering efforts with the Merit Award in the 'Export of Business and Professional Services Small Category'. In operation since 2002, Hello Corp now manages the SriLankan Airlines Global Contact Centre.

Speaking about the award, Ravi Raveendran, CEO of Hello Corp said, "As one of the leading BPOs operating in Sri Lanka, we are pleased to have received this honour of recognition which will drive us to greater heights in the coming years".

Expolanka (Pvt) Limited has earned a reputation as a reliable and quality conscious exporter and has won several accolades including the Presidential Award for Exports and the National Chamber of Exporters Gold Award for Value Added Agriculture under the Extra Large Category.
