Richard Pieris Plantations appoints new Managing Director

A veteran in the plantation industry, Sunil Poholiyadde has been appointed as the Managing Director of the Plantations Sector of the Richard Pieris Group, which comprises Kegalle Plantations PLC, Namunukula Plantations PLC and Maskeliya Plantations PLC with effect from August 12, 2012.

Poholiyadde started his career in the plantation sector 36 years ago as an Assistant Superintendent and became a Senior Superintendent in a short period. After gaining the necessary experience in the field, he joined the senior management of Kegalle Plantations in the year 1997.

A protagonist in the plantation sector, Poholiyadde, is a Director of Richard Pieris Natural Foams Ltd., Exotic Horticulture (Pvt) Ltd. and AEN Oil Palm Processing (Pvt) Ltd.

He was a director of the Rubber Research Board and the Wages Board for the Rubber Growing and Manufacturing Trade. Poholiyadde is the current Chairman of the Plantation Services Group of the Employers’ Federation of Ceylon (EFC), Council Member of the EFC and the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

He is on the Advisory Committee of the Rubber and Plastics of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board, Executive Committee of The Sri Lanka Society of Rubber Industry and Vice Chairman of the Colombo Rubber Traders’ Association.
